Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at home in her son's arms on Sunday, December 25, 2005.Frances Mendez Laguna Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at home in her son's arms on Sunday, December 25, 2005. Frances was born on December 9, 1929 in Kyle, Texas and is predeceased by her parents Eusebio and Eppolita Mendez, brothers Paul, Martin and Joe, and her husband Guadalupe Laguna, Jr. Frances loved life and people; she was not afraid to work hard and was known for her famous homemade tamales and cornbread dressing. She loved to cook, work in her flower garden, decorate and loved being a mother and grandmother. She befriended many and when you visited her home, you never left emptied handed, she was a very generous and loving person. The love of her life was Laura her only granddaughter. She tried so hard to live long enough to see her "Laurita" graduate from college but her body became to weak and frail after going to dialysis for 9 years. Frances is survived by her son Guadalupe "Sonny" Laguna, wife Leta, grandsons Jason and Shane, and great-granddaughters (Kayla and Jenae); her daughter Senovia "Cindy" Dally, husband Bill and her grand-daughter Laura Dally; her sisters Molly Mercado, Annie Alvarado and brother-in-law Joe, Mary Ramirez and Julia Valladares and brother-in-law Guillermo; sister-in-law Mary Mendez of Chicago, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. Recitation of rosary Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (south). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Vicente Cemetery in Kyle. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons- Jason and Shane Laguna, nephews - Joe Alvarado, Mike Castro and Ernesto Chaverria, and special family friend - Geoffrey Frost. Honorary Pallbearers include: Alfonso Castro, Bill Mercado, and Raymond Ramirez, Jr, The family wants to extend a special thanks to Dr. Allen Sonstein, South Austin Dialysis (nurses Kentish, Andrea, Mary and Gerardo); to Roni Spector with Robinson Creek Hospice Center; to her sister Annie Alvarado who stayed with her night after night; and to other family members and friends who gave of their time to sit with her, to prepare home cooked meals and to visit her daily.
