Our beloved Joe R. Lopez, age 66 resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 22, 2005. Joe was ordained a diocesan priest in 1965 he served as Associate Pastor / Pastor for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Amarillo until 1972. He was dedicated to education and knowledge for migrant children and committed his life to advocate for the special population needs. His dedication to education led him to a new chapter in his life where he better served his community as a layman and active leader in the church. After he met his wife and soul-mate Selia Serv­n and married in 1974 in Austin he became an active member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society and the Knights of Columbus of St Paul?s Church. He served as a Eucharistic minister, and lector at St. Paul?s Church. Joe lived life to the fullest and believed that prayer in his life was of the utmost importance as was spending time with his children and wife. He is preceded in death by his father, Miguel Galvÿn L?pez, his mother, Julia Padr?n Calder?n, his sister, Elvira, his brother, Vicente, his brother, James Santiago and his brother, Efr?n. He is survived by his wife and soul-mate of 31 years Selia Serv­n-L?pez; his daughter Esperanza-Maria; sons, Jos? Giovanni L?pez and wife Priscila, Crist?bal Rafael L?pez, Grandson, Rub?n Jos? L?pez, brother, Joe Jes?s L?pez, sister, SR. M. Dolorine, SSC, sister, Isabel Isch, brother, Fidel L?pez, sister, Cecilia Bohannon, and brother, Johnny L?pez. Recitation of rosary Monday 7:00 p.m., December 26, 2005 at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (south). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday December 27, 2005 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul?s Catholic Church. Rev. Paul McCallum will officiate. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be son, J?se Giovanni L?pez, nephew Michael Stanley L?pez, Godsons & nephews Tadeo Miguel Walters, David Mack Walters, Godson & great nephew Timothy Ethan Ragon and brother-in-law Florencio Serv­n; Honorary pallbearers, nephew Guy-Michael Serv­n Hardin, niece Bianca Serv­n Hardin and great nephew Gregory James Ragon.
