Douglas Wayne Rauss departed this earth on August 31, 2005.Douglas Wayne Rauss departed this earth on August 31, 2005. Douglas was born October 13, 1951 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. As a military dependant , his childhood was spent in San Antonio, the Azores, Maine, and Hawaii. He graduated Valedictorian of Paschal High School, Fort Worth in 1970. He attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he earned a degree in English. He then moved to his beloved Austin, where he has since resided. Doug had many talents, a very giving heart, and a most tender soul. His departure has deeply saddened all who were privileged to have him touch their lives. He is survived by 4 sisters: Pat Rauss, Lois & husband Dave Foy, Susan Walker & husband Joe, and Pam Rauss. He is also survived by nephew David Foy Jr. and his wife Pam and their daughters Madyson and Alexis, niece Kathi Ulmer & her daughter Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his father Wilhard H. Rauss and his mother Alma Rauss, both of Fort Worth. Mr. Rauss will lie in repose on Friday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (South) . Funeral service will be Saturday 1:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (South). In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Doug to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired 1100 W. 45th Street Austin, TX 78756.
