George R. Mercado Sr Our beloved husband and fatherGeorge R. Mercado Sr., age 79, resident of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 15, 2005. Mr. Mercado was preceded in death by parents Leon and Francisca Mercado; sisters, Victoria Sosa and Connie Lowry. He is survived by beloved wife of 50 years, Maria Mercado; children, Irma Mercado, George Mercado Jr. (Dahlia) of Manassas, Va., Rene G. Mercado (Sara) of Uhland, and Andrew Mercado; grandchildren, Dahlia Maria, Elizabeth Ann, and Jonathan Rene Mercado, all of Austin; sister, Mary Galvan of Omaha, Nebr. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Recitation of rosary Friday, 7:30 p.m., at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (South). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00 a.m., at San Jose Catholic Church. Rev. Juan Carlos Lopez will officiate. Interment will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery in Pflugerville, recently designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery by the Texas Historical commission. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Victor Sosa Jr., Steve Sosa, Mario Sosa, Jesse Mercado, Arturo Mercado, Cray Mercado.
