Captain Augustine Vega, retired United States Air Force, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 16, 2015. Visitation services are scheduled for 3:00pm on August 20, 2015 at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 S. 1st Street Austin, Texas. The family will welcome guest formally at the funeral home at 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00pm at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00am on August 21st at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave. Austin, Texas 78704. Entombment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park Mausoleum at 11610 Chapel Lane Austin, Texas 78748. Captain Augustine Vega, 81, of Austin, was born in San Benito, Texas to Jose Jesus Vega and Angelita Garcia Vega on August 15, 1934. He met the love of his life, Rachel Garibay, and together raised four children in the Austin area. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Baylor University in 1963. Captain Vega served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Rachel Garibay Vega, four children; Vivian Saenz (Arturo), Liz Buitron (Felix Jr.) Katherine Arroyo (Marcelo) Marcos Vega (Rhonda), five grandchildren (Chrystal, Austin, Jacob, Briana, and Teigan), one great grandchild (Aurora), and six siblings (Beatriz, Pablo, Lucy, Virginia, Irma, Arminda).
